Bevel gear units
On request, bevel gear units are available that are suitable for higher speeds, for use under special temperature conditions or with reduced angular backlash.
For use in corrosive environments and for applications with special demands on cleanliness and hygiene (e.g. the food, pharmaceutical and chemical sectors), stainless steel bevel gear units are available on request.

Good to know: ANGLgear
What is the purpose of ANGLgear?
Bevel gear units of the proven ANGLgear series were developed to transmit a rotary movement in a compact standard right-angle gear unit, either in manual operation or in combination with a mechanical drive unit. All gear units are inspected and tested to ensure proper operation at rated speeds.
How do we ensure the high quality of our ANGLgear gear units?
Every ANGLgear gear unit is checked for compliance with our quality specifications and undergoes a complete quality inspection before packing. This ensures a consistent quality of the gear units and guarantees that only flawless gear units are delivered.
Bevel gears
All bevel gears used in the ANGLgear series are cut to the Gleason toothing system in AGMA quality class 9. This form of toothing produces a straight Coniflex* bevel gear tooth profile with a centred contact pattern. This improves the tooth meshing and permits running speeds of up to 5 m/s. Case-hardened bevel gears are used to ensure a long service life.
Bearings
Four ball bearings sealed on both sides with NBR seals are fitted in every ANGLgear bevel gear unit. The bearings are lubricated for life with Exxon Beacon 325. Special seals, for example in Viton and Teflon, are available for applications in the high-temperature range.
Housing
An aluminium alloy is used as the material for the cast housings. Every housing is finish-machined on CNC machining centres and then given a chemical film to protect the material. For better protection of the housing in applications in corrosive environments, we also offer special materials and coatings. Special machining for precise mounting and alignment is likewise possible.
Shafts
The shafts of sizes 1, 2 and 3 are made of stainless steel (AISI #416 or DIN 1.4005). **On gear units with a 2:1 ratio, cadmium-plated carbon steel is used for the pinion shaft. Black-oxidised carbon steel is used as the material for the shafts of sizes 4 and 5. We offer further materials and treatments to meet your design specifications. Shafts can likewise be produced with special machining (for example with flats, serrations, bores) and / or in specific lengths – please send us your enquiry.
What is the noise level of the ANGLgear gear units in operation?
Test runs are used to record the noise level of the gear unit, so that the running behaviour of the gear unit in operation can be determined. All ANGLgear gear units are checked for compliance with defined limit values. Depending on the size, these lie between 73 and 78 dB. More detailed technical information is available in our download area.
For applications that require quieter gear units, please send us your enquiry.
How large is the tooth flank backlash?
The tooth flank backlash of every gear unit is checked for compliance with the tolerances. On size 1 gear units the permissible backlash is 1/4° to 3/4°; for sizes 2 to 5 it is 1/8° to 1/2°. If special applications require a reduced torsional backlash, please send us your enquiry.
What lubrication does the ANGLgear gear unit contain?
ANGLgear gear units are lubricated for life. The grease Exxon Beacon 325, suitable for operating temperatures from -54°C to +93°C (-65°F to +200°F), is used in all gear units. Other lubricants are available on request.
